Lancer (槍闘士) is a class in the Valkyrie Profile series that can use several different varieties of polearms includes spears, lances and poleaxes. Lancers and Heavy Warriors are similar, though Lancers are stronger but less resilient. They are referred to as spearmen in Valkyrie Profile.

Valkyrie ProfileEdit

BattleEdit

Spearmen of Valkyrie Profile have slow attacks that can be difficult to combo, however this is compensated by their strong attacks and access to several high damage polearms. Their Purify Weird Souls are very powerful, but do not increase the gauge much or do a large number of hits, so the best place for them would be at the end of a PWS combo string.

Valkyrie Profile 2: SilmeriaEdit

BattleEdit

Lancers return in Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, and just as in the prior game, have limited representation. The lone Lancer in this game is Hrist, and her stats are almost like that of a Light Warrior, one similarity being she is more agile than the typical Lancer. Despite that though she does have many of the tenets of the Lancer class. Although she will not outdo many Heavy Warriors in terms of raw damage, with Gungnir and the skill "Psychosoma" she can be one of the most powerful characters in the game. Also just like the Lancers of Valkyrie Profile, Hrist's attacks can be a bit hard to combo properly, and she does not possess the same resiliency as Heavy Warriors. Finally her Soul Crush is powerful, yet doesn't accrue much Heat or have an extraordinary number of hits, so she is best placed at the end of a Soul Crush combo string.

WeaponsEdit

The sole Lancer in Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, Hrist, can equip 5 different polearms which have the Green Piercing Rune. Hrist can also equip Hildr's Sword, a lightsword, which has the Red Slashing Rune. Despite that, neither the weapon she is seen wielding in battle, or her moveset, changes.

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the PlumeEdit

BattleEdit

Lancers of Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume have a movement range of three panels and an attack range of two panels (including diagonal panels). Warriors equip Lances as their weapons and can equip Helmets, Armors, Gauntlets, and Greaves for protective wear.
