Her minions dispatched to Asgard and Midgard, the Queen of Niflheim lies in wait, content to merely antagonize the King of the Aesir for the time being. Intrigued by Wylfred's contempt for the Valkyrie, she bears him an ominous gift of power.
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the PlumeEdit
Hel gives Wylfred power to defy the gods by gifting him with a feather which has the ability of transforming any human being into a killing machine, claiming their life afterwards. The feather darkens after each use, eventually turning into a dark Angel Slayer if it has absorbed enough sin. She sends her minion, Ailyth to monitor his actions and offers gifts through the demon woman if he performs his duty well. Should Wylfred perform his actions poorly, she will send her powerful Realmstalkers as punishment.
In the end, Ailyth reveals Hel's plan of granting Wylfred power only to play with his fate. Lenneth's involvement at the end of the game could have potentially provoked war between Niflheim and Asgard.
Hel is mentioned in conversation but rarely seen. She serves as a general antagonist behind the scenes for Valkyrie, who battles her hordes of undead as she searches for souls fit to become Einherjar.
Niflheim wages war against the Aesir during Ragnarok but there is no indication that they are directly allied with the Vanir. She appears once during the game in the Sacred Phase event, "Queen of Darkness" where she is captured by the Aesir and her lands lost.
According to Norse mythology, Hel is the queen of Helheim rather than Nifleheim.
- Hel shares the same voice actress as Hrist, Leone, Natalia, and Reinhilde - Atsuko Tanaaka.
- Mythologically, Hel is the daughter of Loki. There is no indication of such a relationship in Valkyrie Profile.
